Members and friends gathered on the 25th of January to say goodbye to Barry Van Geffen, the station's President and one of the founding members of NFHR back in 1973. Barry walked all over the town drumming up enthusiasm for the project and asking for donations of old records! Due to a work relocation Barry is off to New Zealand to work but will stay in contact with what's going on in Lymington. Pictured is Chairman Mike Robinson handing Barry an engraved pen and thanking him for all he has achieved for NFHR.
posted 27/11/07AWARD & ELECTIONS AT AGM
On Wed 21st Nov 2007 we held our AGM at New Forest Hospital, the evening was a great success with Chairman, Mike Robinson outlining exciting plans to extend our radio output to local
carehomes, we already broadcast to Solentmead Residential carehome and this new project will connect the Radio Station to even more members of the community. Long standing members Tony Clark, Maggie Barnes, Brenda Collister and Shirley Matthews also stood down from the Committee. These members had served New Forest Hospital Radio with distinction but all will continue to present shows and help out behind the scenes; everyone in the room was moved by what these members had achieved over the years and round after round of applause was given by the grateful audience. Elected to take their place was Natasha Tunicliffe, who is taking over the General Secretary position from Tony Clark. Amy Taylor who has taken over the role of Social Secretary from Brenda Collister, and Roy Hunter who will take over the reins of Treasurer from Shirley Matthews. Eileen Dennett was also elected as a Committee member as a representative of the Ward Collectors. New Forest Hospital Radio was also honoured with a 25 years long service award from Nigel Dallard, who sits on the national committee of the Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA). Mike Robinson recieved the award, which now sits pride of place in our studio, while Nigel then took part in a question and answer session with our members, which was very entertaining and informative. It has been another very successful year for NFHR with membership numbers up to record levels, new programming ideas and the fruitition of our Myriad software project spear-headed by Mick Cornwell, and the exciting possibllities that can be achieved with the new studio.
