Lymington Rotary has awarded Paul Harris Fellowships to a community stalwart for their exceptional service.
Wendy Cheeseman, of the Inner Wheel Club, a member for 26 years, was presented the award, by outgoing president, Derek Gurney, explaining that she was the first (outside the Rotary) to be honoured.
For numerous years Wendy has worked tirelessly for the community, and always volunteered to take on responsibilities.
She has also been President of the Inner Wheel Club twice, & district chairman in 2007/ 08.
In 1983 she received special commendation for outstanding services in the Territorial Army, and also volunteered to set up a WRVS emergency services in the New Forest, recruiting around 100 ladies (and a few men)!
Later she persuaded the Inner Wheel to take blood-donor teas, and still organises the rota.
In addition she works as a volunteer at Lymington New Forest Hospital, both for the League of Friends tea bar, and as a request collector for New Forest Hospital Radio.
WELL DONE WENDY! |
